Weekend in Westhampton

Me and Shawn really needed a getaway. This is something we have after being apart for a while. As always we did not plan ahead of time ;)

After realizing that flying to Miami or the Caribbeans would be too expensive (the concept of last minute getaways is foreign to American travel agents) and that there were no hotels available anywhere on Long Island I was surfing the craigslist on Friday night (2:25am) There was an add about a master bedroom being rented in Westhampton for $225 for the whole weekend which sounded really great to me. I sent out an email and went to bed knowing me and Shawn will have to spend the weekend here in Manhattan.

Woke up at 10:30 am and had 2 emails in my inbox. 1 - Yes, the room is still available and we should call. 2 - The owner is off to the beach, we should call. Yieppieee!!!

3 hours later we find ourselves at the train station and the owner who is the nicest guy picks us up from the train. We are shown the house which is on the main drag of Westhampton Beach and is beautifully furnished. Owner writes down the names of good restaurants, drives us to the beach which is only 10 min away and hands out the beach pass. Lucky for us, since that was the nearest beach (Rodgers Beach) and there was no way we could use it without the pass.

We had a blast. Perfect, not too crowed beach. They even leave their shoes at the entry(see one of the pictures). Sand is like brown sugar. Clean. Nice waves. Long walks on the beach. Good restaurants and good sight seeing of Hampton's villas.

We had to leave early to get back to Manhattan at 10:30. Its all good, we are sunburned and happy. Now we can say we "summered in the Hamptons" :)

Enjoy the pics :)))

If anyone is interested to go, we can get you in contact with the owner of the house, he rents out rooms all year.
